Title: Analyst or Associate

Secretariat Capital, LLC (Secretariat) is comprised of sector-agnostic, value oriented, special situations debt and equity investors who can invest in all parts of the capital structure using structured equity or debt or both, with the ability to source management teams that offer complementary subject-matter expertise.

Secretariat’s investment style focuses on high yield lending to public and private companies, and minority or control deals (leveraged buyouts, special situations / distressed investing, and growth equity). In addition to deploying capital, in certain instances, Secretariat also provides bespoke advisory services related to restructuring, acquisitions & divestitures and recapitalization transactions. 

The company is industry-agnostic in its approach but thematically targets distressed, undervalued and disruptive businesses.

Analysts and Associates in the  Investments team play a vital role in evaluating, executing, and monitoring new and existing investments. Responsibilities and requirements include but are not limited to the following.

  • Collaborating with and supporting senior investment professionals in the origination and evaluation of new investment opportunities
  • Developing financial models to analyze investment opportunities (including the testing of assumptions and sensitivities)
  • Conducting due diligence on prospective investments, evaluating industry and company dynamics, valuation practices, and exit environment.
  • Carrying out detailed research and analysis to assist in new investment origination and execution.
  • Managing advisory work streams
  • Monitoring existing portfolio investments, including quarterly performance reviews and preparing quarterly reporting packages for the Advisory Board and Investment Committee
  • Associate: 3-5 years in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or management consulting, with at least 1-2 years at the Associate level. High proficiency in Excel / PowerPoint and very complex financial modeling skills, including M&A modeling and LBOs, gained in a deal environment. MBA preferred but not required.

  • Analyst: 1-3 years in investment banking with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize workload.
